Author Patrick Dobson is a freelance writer, former journalist, and
working member of Ironworkers Local Union No. 10 in Kansas City,
Missouri. He said that his travels across the Great Plains changed his
outlook on life, giving him a greater appreciation for relationships,
less interest in material things, and a keen interest in the personal
