water cooler blue
screams, squeals, yells, and mothers’ fears
kids play, make no mind
of moms, lifeguards, sun or wind
only rain, thunder, lightning
bedtime bound
sunny day of play
kids home now, complaining begins
so much childhood suffering
movies in the basement dark
without popcorn, pop, and chips
